With their unique mix of disco and dance sounds and pop punk guitar riffs and beats, Hellogoodbye quickly made a name for themselves and we picked up by Drive-Thru records; one of the biggest pop punk records labels around at the moment. After signing Jenoah and Hellogoobye as the new bands of 2004, they both released free EPs. Jenoah quickly released Morning Is When Jenoah Wakes Up, but Hellogoodbye's was a long time coming. After waiting about 2 months, the EP is finally out.

Shimmy Shimmy Quarterturn (Take It Back To Sqaure 1) - 7/10
From the beginning intro with delayed guitars and techno sounding samples, you can tell you are in for a fast and energetic song. The lyrics aren't half bad and goes well with the music. I like the way they slipped the MSN sound in as well.

Call N' Return (Say It Like You Mean It) - 9/10
My favourite track on the EP. It's catchy intro and addictive verses (lots of repetition in words) makes this a perfect song. The music fits like a jigsaw into the vocals and basically completes the song

Bonnie Taylor Shakedown... 2K1 - 8/10
The slowest song on the EP certainly, but not before a rocking intro. The song is very emotional and contains a lot of lyrical value, but the music goes well as well. Not wanting to be another emo band, the choruses are heavy as well.

Jesse Buy Nothing... Go To Prom Anyway - 3/10
Crap. Sure, this band knows how to use samples and dance techniques well. But it doesn't show here. They overdo it with them, and the vocals don't help either. A roaring and bad voice with slightly bad lyrics make this song utter crap. Sorry guys, but it is.

Dear Jamie... Sincerely Me - 8/10
Stepping the borderline of emo, this song makes up for the previous mistake. At 8 minutes long (about as long as the last 4 songs) this is again another emotional song with lyrics that must mean a lot to the band. The pop punk-iness doesn't show much, but it's still there in the chourses again.

After listening to the EP, Hellogoodbye (who I'd describe as a chirpy The Network) have proved that using samples can be done right, and that not all pop punk is about "hardcore guitar riffs". Well done Hellogoodbye, I can't wait until they record an album.

I was at a concert where if you bought their CD (which I didn't own yet) and you got to meet the band. The CD was only 8 BUCKS!!!! so I did and they signed of my shirt. They were nice people. I've met the exies and had a long conversation while eating pizza and drinking pepsi with them. basically... hellogoodbye rules and I think that prom song was a joke. just filler i also really enjoy shimmy shimmyThis Message Edited On 03.04.06This Message Edited On 03.04.06

Jesse Buy Nothing... Go To Prom Anyway is the only song by this band that I like. It's ridiculous and I love it.

Everything else though, is pretty crappy.
