| 0.0 | bloc | March 18th 10 | Lower Hell is a young death metal band that has their feet in two different pools of water. On one hand, there is a strong death metal/metalcore sound very much like Heaven Shall Burn (not as serious, of course) with very simple riffing and drumming. However, the band adds a melodic death metal layer on top of everything with shreddy solos and tons of licks to get those fingers blazing. Sure, this doesn't sound like anything new...which is exactly the problem. Right after the third song (assuming you make it that far) I start asking myself "did I leave a song on repeat?" In conclusion, as a generic, run-of-the-mill melodic death metal record, this is sufficient. But as an album to actually enjoy listening to, well, prepare for a sweet lullaby.
