2.0 poor | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | April 18th 24 | If I weren't to analyse this any deeper than superficial vibes, I'd still go away thinking that the album really stretches its few musical influences thin across the surprisingly brief runtime. But if I am to dig even a particle deeper, I am still left underwhelmed by the sheer inconsistency in lyrics and performance. Any hotbed focus aside, why does every genuinely clever and heartfelt line have to have its obnoxious, high school grade counterpart? Why does every lush "gospel?" have to have its borderline idiotic "boomboom". Speaking of which, why is the best production wasted on the worst songs? Like friggin clockwork.

2.5 average | Erwann S. STAFF | August 30th 23 | All controversies aside, this is just very mid: NoName is just rapping the same flows on the same neo-souly beats.

3.0 good | AgentMadhatt | August 20th 23 | Sadly not as good as her previous attempt specifically since I was foaming at the mouth for a new Noname album. Still good but not on the same level, plus the Antisemetism thing. I will posit that Blackmirror and Namesake are absolute 5/5 bangers and I still love Noname's "scatter-think" flow as she has called it. Like her just loose association stream of consciousness type verses. So a 3 seems appropriate. Possibly leaning towards a 3.5 but to me this is both a joy and a disappointment at the same time

2.0 poor | ajcollins15 | August 18th 23 | Obviously, the antisemitic lyrics by Jay Electronica make this a tough album to review, especially for the political/heady pedestal Noname seems to hold herself at this point in her career. Taking that out, this is a huge dip in quality from her 2018 debut and 2016 debut EP. ?Sundial? feels like a rushed and uninspired-sounding conscious hip hop and jazz rap album in which she tries too hard to make heady points that all fall flat. There are many times she contradicts herself in the album, let alone in old interviews with her. Plus, the jazz instruments all feel like weak b-sides from her last few projects. Overall, this is a tough album to get through, let alone it is completely forgettable when it is over.
