i started listening to this and then i realised that i don't have to

"Tether" is a step backwards from "Echo" and "EARTHANDSKY" - feeling somewhere along the lines that "Defy" did. Which, "Defy" was a solid record, but it also served as a reboot for Of Mice & Men; returning to such songwriting and stylistic choices almost feels like regression. Now, "Tether" has plenty of good tracks. 'Castaway', and 'Warpaint' are typical metalcore, and songs like 'Shiver' utilize lower vocal ranges combined with reverb highs from the guitars that do feel somewhat different for the band, yet still isn't enough. At this point, Of Mice & Men have proven theirselves enough where they could really write anything and it would still probably turn out adequate. Maybe that's what happened here, and what's here is still better than other acts out there. You're content as a listener, but not satisfied.

Mindnumbingly average, so on autopilot it's getting
embarrassing a few tracks into this thing.

its fine. not nearly as bad as everyones making it out to be. warpaint, castaway and indigo
are all solid. but its just fine, which is unfortunate. echo was great, this could maybe be
its sister in terms of sound. the problem is i believed aaron on echo, i dont believe him
here for the most part. in writing and delivery agin, its "fine," but he doesn't convince me
he cares here lilke he did in echo. also production is a little off. anyway. 2.5

If I could go less than 1, I would. Trite lyrics, with no substance behind them. The low-fi
filtered vocals are NOT produced correctly and sit in the mix like a blister. And did you
seriously give us a "check, check" before the intro riff on Warpaint? Corny, pathetic, spinless
music.
