Death metal is one hell of a genre. Of course we all know the classic bands of the death metal scene. Bands like Death, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide...the list goes on and on. The beauty of the death metal scene is that it never stopped evolving. Amazing band after amazing band comes out with a jaw dropping albums year after year and it never stops. Paroxysm Unit's debut full-length album,
Fragmentation // Stratagem, is no exception.
Paroxysym Unit's particular approach is far more towards the brutal and technical end of the death metal spectrum with some cosmic spacey themes being referenced throughout the album. It makes sense, because these guys make music like they're from a different planet.
Fragmentation // Stratagem brings you riffs and blasts galore. Add in the tightness, speed and technicality mixed with the top notch production job and you get one hell of a tasty modern death metal album. The vocals are EXTREMELY guttural and absolutely maniacal in every sense of the word. It's as if Belial is cursing you out from the pits of hell itself.
This album won't blow you away with originality. It's hard to be completely original in the death metal world nowadays. Paroxysm Unit has created an album in 2023 that will have them on the tips of every death metal fan's tongue from now into the future.
