Review Summary: I can't wake up.

In the abyss of the underworld, Magda emerges as a formidable harsh noise wall artist from New Jersey. Their work, here aptly titled "The Night Walker," weaves a tapestry of sonic terror that plunges listeners into a realm of unnerving powerlessness, akin to the haunting state of sleep paralysis. In this twisted realm, the question of awakening lingers. The narrator remains trapped, and we too are bound by the same fate. It becomes a psychological journey that thrusts us into the depths of our existence, confronting the inadequacy of our human senses.

From the very first dissonant weave of sampled audio, a sense of entrapment in a nightmarish limbo takes hold. A scene unfolds, gripping and twisting our very beings. And then, the wall of noise emerges—relentless and unyielding, mirroring the paralyzing torment of a mind unable to escape its own torment. It is as if our senses themselves are shackled, confined to a realm where escape seems futile. Within this cacophonous landscape, Magda deftly manipulates sound, evoking a visceral response that resonates with the deepest recesses of our being.

Amidst the overwhelming density of the assault, a peculiar allure emerges from the heart of horror. It is a paradoxical impulse—a magnetic force that both binds us to the sound and compels us to confront our deepest fears. In this paradox, the works of Freud find their echo. Unconscious desires and buried traumas reverberate within the dissonant layers, awakening primal instincts that remind us of our own vulnerability and the unfathomable depths of the human experience. You want to go home, but you are here. This is displacement and "The Night Walker" deals with it. Darkness and psyche. While our waking lives may find our senses faltering, it is the realm of horror that possesses the power to stir us from our slumber. The shock awakens our primal impulses. "Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual's conscious life, the blacker and denser it is," said Jung. Magda's onslaught serves as a catalyst to arouse this lurking murk, rupturing the veil of complacency and shaking us from our sensory complacency. It is within the depths of this horrifying soundscape that the mysteries of our subconscious are unveiled, urging us to confront the shadows that dwell within us and unravel the enigmatic tapestry of our existence.

sadly the meme explosion in popularity of hnw has made it even harder for people to attach to, given that 90% of it now is copy-paste rereleases of the same walls under different names

if i hear another foot worship project with a stolen richard ramirez wall i'm gonna go apeshit

to that extent, this may be good, but i'm hesitant to check as it may well be another fraud case

and thusly i am stuck following vomir, sam mckinlay, richard ramirez, and the macronympha dudes into the void
