5.0 classic | Ben McGlinn | May 23rd 23 | This record is a much-welcome follow-up with more songs from the 2014 concert in Syracuse that were featured on Savoy Brown’s previous live album. This recording is a continuation and reminder of the band’s excellence when playing live blues. Just like the first volume, songs such as Nuthin’ Like the Blues, Shot In the Head, and Street Corner Talking show how Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown have just gotten better over time. Kim’s amazing guitar playing and bluesy vocals along with bassist Pat DeSalvo and drummer Garnet Grimm are even more powerful here than on some of the band’s studio releases from years ago. This was the last live release from Savoy Brown when Kim Simmonds was still alive. Hopefully, there are more recordings that will be available in the future. If you have heard Still Live After 50 Years Volume 1., you already know how extraordinary the performance sounds. If you haven’t heard it, it also is a must for all fans.
