4.0 excellent | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | January 23rd 24 | Genesis finds a more agreeable, accessible footing amid the creative thunderstorm that was his debut. That actually works beautifully in his favour, as a more stylistically stripped and narrowed record still shows him on top of his game, spitting clever lyrics and catchy tunes left and right.

3.2 good | Erwann S. STAFF | August 29th 23 | STRUGGLER is more streamlined, yet less focused and tite as Smiling With No Teeth, mostly because most of these tracks dip into groovy territories without fully giving themselves the dynamics means to leverage all this potential ass-shaking.

4.5 superb | SputnikUsername | August 27th 23 | Definitely not as experimental as his first album, but it?s still a masterpiece. Definitely more toned down than SWNT, but I
see that as a positive. Gives him more opportunity to show off his great voice while still sticking with his unique blend of
rap, punk and R&B, with the latter definitely being the most prominent of those three. I also love how it seems the majority
of the instrumentals seem to be live instruments. Unlike his former album, I could fall asleep to the majority of these
songs, but in the best possible way. Would love to see a Tiny Music concert of this album. A+++

3.5 great | ajcollins15 | August 24th 23 | Kofi?s debut album in 2021 could go down as one of the greatest debut albums of the modern era. It was such a detailed and expansive record that fused various shades of post-punk and hip hop on top of it being a concept album talking about depression. So, the hype for his sophomore album was huge when he started to announce stuff over a year ago. To say ?Struggler? is a dip in quality is an understatement. The caveat is that this record is still well crafted and executed, but everything here seems like a trial of ideas. Kofi goes headfirst into dance and synth punk, so he is experimenting with a lot of ideas here and it shows. Many tracks feel somewhat sloppy and executed somewhat poorly. But when he nails the sound, he really nails it. Overall, there is more positive than negative, but I think there is a lot of growth going to occur from now to whenever he drops his next record.

4.0 excellent | JakeStallion | August 19th 23 | sacrifices the wildly ambitious scope of his previous album in favor of something more concise and consistent. there?s still plenty of experimentation to be found, it?s just now within the sonic framework that he?s established for himself. great stuff

3.5 great | botb | August 18th 23 | Lacking the dynamics and the experimentation of SWNT but loving the live band feel of it. Could see this being a grower for sure.
