Review Summary: No classic, but no couch potato.

Never heard of these humans before, but if prog metal slides in your pants, you may wish to text Ignea to come over. You’re gonna need a ticket to ride the train though, and this train goes all the way to Tunisia. What??! Yes, this prog metal musical gathering seems quite inspired by a certain Myrath (hailing from Tunisia). A couple differences though: a much smoother singer here, and less memorable shreds. If you like the melodic side of Myrath, Ignea offer that, and also offer the same middle eastern bed sheets. It also sounds like there’s ideas from other cultures, but let’s be honest, my entire culture is within my house, so everything I learn is on the internet. From a quick peruse of the internets I see that Ignea’s Spotify page agrees with me on the “multicultural” parts. I will trust everything the net says from now on.

This album is objectively well made. From the slapper riffs to the dashed electronic boops, the smorgasbord is perfectly layed out and ready to be consumed by practically anyone. It’s easy prog to get into, modern enough with a poppy groove and heavy riffs. It’s entirely smooth sailing, so in short, a smorgasbord at sea. I’m on a boat. This wave of prog metal is nice, just modern enough (I already said that, but the stake shall be hammered into your membrane), yet not so modern that it goes into djent or deathcore or something else overdone. Than again, pop in metal has been mixed in infinitely. Well, the music here has golden glitz but is metal in the attitude so the combo is effective like adding ginger pork. These chunky riffs are exactly what the album needed to keep things sounding fresh.

Long story short, expect a good but not especially unique album, but on the other hand unique enough and catchy, but not too catchy. Prog to a tee, essentially, and drinking tea whilst listening to prog sounds like fun and is now on my to-do list. Speaking of such, I may not be a repeat customer towards this album for long, but I will undoubtedly return. In a pinch, picking up a prog metal album with some decently filling, easily absorbent melody work is a sinch.
