Review Summary: The death of chocolate music.

This album is pure vanilla extract without the cake, candies, whipping cream and extra toppings. The album is too mundane to be dream pop yet it floats in a straight line like a toddler lightly pushed on a dingy in the pool; the atmosphere is a snooze and the songs are predictable. A tiny splash is made, and a light feeling of satisfaction occurs when one enters this indie pop album, but the enjoyment subsides swiftly. Choruses are played to no avail or impact. In terms of pop it doesn’t work because the music is not catchy. Also, the beats are tamer than a tuft of grass, and the lightest vocals are gently served as though the “band” (I use the term loosely) is afraid of offending someone. You could easily convince me that they put no effort into this album, and farted it out in a couple days.

Is there a difference between tracks? Dunno, it’s impossible to tell. It’s all whispery quiet, bordering on wishing they were psychedelic, yet failing to produce anything remotely as exciting as Starbucks music or 90s computer game soundtracks. Speaking of which, I listened to this while playing a new video game and I regret my decision. Not a single track or moment in the album truly wet my whistle, it was the equivalent of eating air while starved. Light-as-air angel food cake is delicious, but the serving here had me turning my brain off long before halfway through the album.

The album isn’t that bad, but you’ll be hard-pressed to remember any of it. The synth usage is generic and pointless, the guitars do delicate wah wah effects or lighter strumming than with a tiny paint brush, etc. A smooth, potentially soothing sound was likely their intent, though the result is wishing I had my time back. This album should be renamed the cure for sleep deprivation. Literally nothing got my interest up, and I waited with eagerness. The singing was Enyacore but not entertaining, and I can’t believe I’m still writing down thoughts about this album. Skip it.
