3.5 great | iGuter | January 1st 24 | While it is an ambitious, epic record, it does come off pretentious. From the overlong run time and repetitive themes in its lyrics and compositions; there?s never quite a beat that really gave a clear idea. However, the individual tracks on this album are nicely crafted with a lot of emotional baring and gorgeous moments that make for a great listen. I?m giving a vague interpretation of the sound overall, but it?s an experience that I enjoyed, mostly.

1.5 very poor | ajcollins15 | June 14th 23 | Woof, this new Christine and the Queens album is definitely something I didn?t expect she would do. And ever evolving and expansive avant-pop album that brings in a lot of modern alt-pop aesthetics while also driving in various shades of 90s trip hop, 80s synthpop, and atmospheric styles of ambient pop. In many ways, you have to admire the risk she is taking on this album because of the stylistic ideas she is presenting. On top of the near hour and a half run time. But she fails to nail almost anything in this album. Everything here either is excruciatingly boring or annoyingly derivative. I can kind of see why people are loving this album, but for me, this album is extremely tedious and goes nowhere sonically. Let alone the constant back-and-forth lyrical content.
