Review Summary: A smarter Attack Attack!, sexier The Color Morale, and heavier Dance Gavin Dance.

At the Skylines has created an EP that mixes hints of various artist and put them together very well, along with their own touch. Every song is a treat in itself and offers something different. Be it the catchy lyrics in "Heart Of Gold", or the intense breakdown in Poise In Boys, they have something to offer to everyone.

The hidden secret for At the Skylines is that they have two vocalist. Though this is not anything new or original, it adds extremely good layering and texture to each song, and gives a different feel to each song. The screamer reminds me of clearer Austin Carislile (ex Attack Attack!/Of Mice And Men), and the singer is reminiscent of the vocalist for Woe, Is Me. He has a hint of soul, and can definitely hold a note, and also has no problem at carrying a song on his own.

Who ever these guys recorded with, sure does know how to catch each subtlety of this band. Be it the up and down synth or the vocalists. The first song that stood out to me on this EP was "When People Stop Being Polite", and that was only because it was the first song I heard on their myspace. This song has everything the EP delivers, deep growls, sweeping keyboards, a hefty breakdown and top notch vocals. Some may say that going by this description, "Oh, sounds like Attack Attack!, or Asking Alexandria". But this isn't the case, they sound closer to Dance Gavin Dance and or The Color Morale than anything.

All in all, there is nothing to miss with this band. I have the feeling that with a bit more publicity, they could join Woe, Is Me, or The Color Morale in the Rise Records roster. (Start the negging.) But really, there is nothing negative to say about this EP.

have you guys heard their new stuff? they're going for a more "funkier" sound from what i've heard and what they've stated in their interviews.
