This is so much not like the album cover it's almost funny, and certainly has a novelty of its own for it. Yeah those related bands are accurate, but even moreso, is that this is a pretty fun release. It reminds me of that Draconian last year which was great, but I also pick up on some Unexpect here and there (though never that level of manic), and honestly it's just a fun mashup of your garden variety operatic and progressive doom genres that's really not bad, especially for 1994. There's plenty enough variation to actually be kept surprisingly interested throughout, and the song structure is more than solid. The cover is awesome and hilarious to an extent when considering the juxtaposition of a progressive doom genre atop the goregrind text and imagery which all in all makes it even more engaging. This is certainly a different take on things, for novel sake or not, it's well worth the listen. For a moment, it makes the unexpected nature of music great again.
