4.0 excellent | MetalMarcJK | April 25th 22 | Jazz. Electronica. Rush. Biblical excerpts. Periphery. Becca Stevens. A boy’s choir solo voice. Chris Thile. Gentle
Giant. A mandolin. Lots of synths. The back half of “Starship Trooper”.
It took about 10 or so listens over the last month, but this very, very creative follow-up to his Grammy-winning
Finding Gabriel is clicking with me; however, I am not sure how much I like it. So many thoughts...so hard to
put into words.
17 Dec 2022 — I really, really like it. Gonna bump it up to a 4. I’d do 4.25 if I could, but I’m not one of the Elect.

3.5 great | HelloJoe | May 6th 22 | It's a dense body of work that takes many of
the eccentricities of Finding Gabriel and turns
them
up tenfold. A love-letter to Mehldau's
influences outside the spaces of jazz and into
some really
bold territory.
