Review Summary: Yet another energetic exercise in melodic heavy metal and hard-rock from an established German producer and musician
Yet another energetic exercise in melodic heavy metal and hard-rock from an established German producer and musician, Chris Maragoth. During his creative span the project has experimented and recorded a diverse discography, encompassing different genres and styles, this time adding something more straightforward and testosterone-fueled.
By the end of December it is just the right time to revisit the year that passed to come up with a proper resolution. Burning June displays the artist's personal struggles, as the song is dedicated to battling sin and all that.
Musically it’s a dynamic metal banger, which instantly brings up the likes of Bullet For My Valentine, Dio and a bit of Blind Guardian. High tempos, muted riffing and clean singing only (including sinister backing vocals and one single *** in the lyrics). Still, Chris once again shows his dedication to maintaining high standards of songwriting and production - when listening to this song it’s hard to believe that he is still an indie artist. Burning June is an excellent example of German heavy metal, brilliantly executing everything you love in it.
The song fits the project’s portfolio perfectly, highlighting the more intense and energetic part of Maragoth’s creativity. Well, Burning June sets December and January ablaze too!
