Gil Mantera's Party Dream - Bloodsongs

Aside from the ridiculously outrageous presence they emit, that i must say you have to see for yourself (Youtube "Elmo's Wish" to get an idea...), Gil Mantera's Party Dream is something so oddly enjoyable, or staggeringly unusual, that you almost cannot help but feel blown away by them. Their groovy synth-dance anthems are infectious enough to either want to see more, or probably wish you had never seen it in the first place.

Gil Mantera and Ultimate Donny somehow seem to bring the past sounds and styles of Electro-pop into a straightforward, futuristic selection, that is both refreshing, down right catchy, and every part weird. Using tight, layered beat loops, the occasional guitar solo, and the powerful dual vocal/vocoder attack. it's really hard to want to put this away once you've heard it.

the lyrical content ranges from singing about water slides and dreams, to dealing with love, and 21st century technology. it isn't anything too deep, but with references to Abraham Lincoln, and goblins, its easy to see what they really are focusing on, really fun, "paaartayy" music to dance to.

Ultimate Donny's use of the guitar in this album is extremely noteworthy, especially in a genre that generally is "all keyboards", and more often than not undergoes the scrutiny of the validity of actual musicianship.

Gil's Use of differing, and unusual keyboard sounds and rhythm's, blend very well with his use of a vocoder for his vocaliztion. Ultimate Donny's powerful voice soars above the beats, making you want to sing along, and you more than likely will want to, it's okay.

It seems almost impossible to be able to take these guys seriously, but even with that taken into account, these guys can make some incredibly coherent, upbeat, and genuinely fun tracks to listen to.

Truly, this record will be an awesome addition to your collection, and it is really hard to try and describe this much further without you actually listening for yourself and gathering your own opinion of it, but i highly recommend you do, and like it or not, you might have fun either way.
