Every once in a while, an album comes along that catches your attention from the from the very second you pop it into your stereo, an album that reels you in and you are hooked on it for months. That album, for me, was, if you didn't guess already, is Stutterfly: And We Are Bled Of Color. Yes, that intro should sound faintly familiar because I did review this once, but it got deleted in the crash. If you want the members and such, just go to the last page, and there they are, I'm feeling lazy. Here goes my review.

Instrumental: I love the instrumental work on this album. The two guitars are always playing clearly seperate parts. The lead guitar plays some catchy and fast leads while the second guitar plays fast, varying chords instead of repeating the same ones over again. The parts even change from the first to the second verse and chorus. The best examples of this would be in songs like Where Angels Fell, Dead Eyes, Fire Whispers, Formula Of Flesh, and Shallow Reasons. The bass is highly audible in most songs, and it doesn't dissapoint. The bass lines are simple, yet effective and blend with the guitars very well. The best songs to hear bass in are Dead Eyes, Where Angels Fell, and Gun in Hand, The drumming really caught my attention on this album. It's seems to match the tone of the song very well. If theres a fast song, the drumming also is fast (as in Dead Eyes), or they are slow and highly distorted (Lifes Disease). Overall, I would very easily give the instrumental a 10/10.

Vocals: The three peice vocals are amazing on this album. The lead vocals have great range and rapidly move up and down the scale seamlessly (Dead Eyes). The whispery backing vocals match perfeclty with the lead vocals, and sometimes even hit near soprano notes, which can get sort of annoying. (Where Angels Fell). The screaming is also executed very well, almost similar to Spencer Chamberlain from Underoath. At times they are layered underneath the lead vocals(Fire Whispers), sometimes they alternate with the lead vocals (Dead Eyes), sometimes they make up a majority of the song (Scarlet Path, Flames Adorn The Silence), and sometimes they are barely even used (Shallow Reasons, The Breath) Aside from the screaming, the band also tries out some group vocals in the single, Gun In Hand, which are done very well. I say that the vocal work gets an 8/10

Lyrics: The lyrics on this album are outstanding, but seemingly coded. Only a few songs can be made sense of, and they are Formula of Flesh and Gun in Hand. The songs very rarely even dance around the whole idea of heartbreak and relationships, the only one that really deals with this subject matter is Silent Scream, and although the members of the band are all christian, it's not apparent in their lyrics. Not much else to say, but the lyrics deserve no less than an 8/10.

Standout Tracks: Dead Eyes, Where Angels Fell, Gun In Hand, Bury Me (The Scarlet Path), The Breath, Formula Of Flesh, Shallow Reasons, and Flames Adorn The Silence.

Overall, this album combines all of these aspects to make a melodic, heavy, and energetic sound. Although not cheerful, the album isn't depressing either. Great for metal or post hardcore fans. This album is definitely worth it's $13.99 price tag, give it a listen.

I saw them a long time ago, and I had Broken in Pieces and I liked it a lot. This album isn't quite as good, as the sound is far too polished and they went for a more screamo sound. It's still good stuff though, for the most part.

just to warn you, although i highly advocate hearing the rest of the cd, that the warped version of gun in hand is a little different, i.e. there is absolutely no screaming in the album version, whereas there is on the warped version. still, you most definitaly should find a way to pick up this albumThis Message Edited On 03.03.06

I saw these guys live once and they were amazing. I nearly died moshing (being only 100lbs and whatnot). It's too bad that the lead singer split. I was looking forward to some new material.
