It Dies Today have returned to full strength. I love intelligent metal as much as the next pretentious douche, but I always had a soft spot for metalcore not of the sputnik elite variety. After the dissapointment that was Sirens, the swell old chaps from ITD dropped a motherfucking time bomb of a metalcore album. Thick chugging grooves, face fucking solos, and a dynamic good cop/bad cop attack, Lividity is one of the better metalcore records released in 2009. Haters can go fuck a diseased parrot.

Metalcore as a genre has enough difficulty staying afloat without the help of bands like It Dies Today. I'm sorry Jason Wood, welcome to the scene, but stop making a market for decade-old stereotypes - it's angering fans of intelligent metal.

Even though Jason takes a different path than Nick, In my opinion he hasn't ruined It Dies Today at all. After listening to this album I believe that It Dies Today can still stay one of my favorite bands.

Definitely doesn't hold up against It Dies Today's earlier matieral. While even Sirens was a little restrained at times, it fared much better than the pseudo metalcore assault on this album.

I had high hopes for this album and Jason is a very capable vocalist, but a lot of the album just sounds boring and dull. "This Ghost" is a standout track with tons of brutality, and actually manages to shift to keep things interesting. Otherwise Jason is on the same ol' scream throughout, the same chugging guitars, and it gets stale quick.
