Review Summary: puts your mom in the oven
This nu metalcore trend has been interesting. Some albums are average and forgettable, yet other albums are exceptional. Vol. 4 is the latter, and what a ladder it climbs! While the album does not evolve the genre, it sticks true to what makes it worth a visit. Straight to the point: it goes hard. Between pounding drums and blistering screams there’s much to like.
Imagine deathcore without the plodding motion of deathcore. Foggy ambient music strings tracks together, but when they get kicking heads roll. The album is very well put together, and despite a lack of shreds and breakdowns, the grooves keep tracks hard hitting. The tone of the guitar is also perfect, crushing the opposition under the toes of giants. Yet, succulent melodies uplift the feeble, depressed senses into waves of angelic energy.
I’m overselling it to make you listen to this. Wake up and smell the metal. It’s modern metalcore done properly, and not a band that should be ignored. It’s amazing how many of these types of bands exist that don’t stand out — this one does. Every instrumental is on point, sounds tough, and slams punk asses in da streets. Open up a circle for this one and get crushed, bitch. You won’t be bored, and you won’t be like, “wtf is this??” — you will enjoy.
