Review Summary: This a heavily influenced Heavy Metal record that is definitely underrated.
Into the Mouth of Badd(d)ness is the debut album of Heavy Metal band Brown Brigade, formed by Sum41's ex-guitarist Dave "Brownsound" Baksh . If you think this is going to sound like a Sum41 album, you are mistaken, this has nothing to do with Punk-Rock. This is more a tribute or a back to the Heavy Metal roots album of Sum41's guitarist.
You can hear a lot of influences behind this album, including The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, especially Judas Priest and Iron Maiden (Hallowed Be Thy Name is a cover of Iron Maiden). This LP gives you great heavy riffs that will make you headbang all through the listen. If you are a fan of Sum41 that wants to try out the guitarist's project, you will probably be disappointed unless you enjoy Heavy Metal.
When Brownsound left Sum41, he said that he wanted to do something more difficult, technical than what he was doing with Sum41, this is exactly what happened on this LP. This sounds like the Pain For Pleasure songs with a heavier guitar and a Dave Mustaine kind of voice (at least on his last records). The instruments are all played fine, you can even hear a great Bass solo on Fear of a Brown Planet, which doesn't happen on all records. You might think that Dave's voice might not have what it takes to cover Iron Maiden's Hallowed Be Thy Name, but it actually sounds like a darker version of the song, which sounds great.
The last song has nothing to do with the album, this is more like "calm down" song like the title says, Relaxation Plantation (Superboppafreakwalizer). If you enjoy Funk music, you will like this song, it has great solos in it too.
