Again most of you probably haven’t heard of The Prozacs. Read my other review on the cd Thanks For Nothing if you want background info. This is a short LP but it is still wicked awesome and contains very well written songs. This is somewhat of a concept album as it is called Monsters Night Out and most of the songs have either obvious dark lyrics such as Monsters Out Tonight and They Want Me Dead. The sound production also manages to make it a little creepier guitar sound without changing the style too much.

Monsters Out Tonight(5/5)- Opens with some fast drumming then a weird eerie sounding guitar note. Moves into a song full of energy with some excellent guitar work and the drums match it perfectly. A song that never stops with its barrage of guitar chords and energy until the end. Simple enough lyrics but work well with the song.

Hang Up The Hangups(4.5/5)-Cool opening riff that dives into a song about describing a misfit. Another very fast song full of energy. And then we get to the bridge and what is this? A guitar solo from the prozacs? But it is and it is nicely done. Another great song.

All Of Tonight(5/5)- Starts off Ramones style 1-2-3-4! One of the most complex Prozacs song in terms of arrangement. A few different parts to the song including a riff that stays in your head all day. Good harmony in last chorus. Good singing and interesting lyrics.

Facelift(3.5/5)-Cool opening riff that smokes off into a fast song that has some very funny lyrics. The whole song consists of “She needs a facelift right now She needs a facelift and she needs one now.” Even with the simple lyrics very good song.

Cupid’s Revenge(3/5)-The closest thing to a rock ballad youre gonna get from these guys. Only song in a time other than 4/4 this is in triplets. Slower than usual but interesting lyrics about being in love with yourself. A good song that gives some variety but doesn’t fit in with the album that well.

They Want Me Dead(4.5/5)-Back to break neck speed and another simple enough song with some catchy harmonies thrown in. At first listen, a bland song but after a few times it get really catchy and sticks in your head.

You Don’t Know(4.5/5)-First part of the song is the usual style, hard hitting, fast and catchy vocals and melodies. Good stuff but nothing outstanding. Then the end of the song the guitar repeats an eerie sounding riff over and over with each instrument fading out at different times until there is just the guitar left. Cool and interesting way to end the album.

If you are interested in a listen the first three songs are on their purevolume or myspace. Give it a listen and spread the word.
