Review Summary: Pop-punk kings get London rocking with their raw live energy
New Found Glory, love them or hate them, know how to put on a good show. Here, they perform their bouncy and energetic pop-punk hybrid to London's Forum on a memorable night in late 2004 to mark their first live DVD/CD offering.
This came after the release of fourth album "Catalyst". The set runs at a non-stop pace for over an hour as they peform favourites from 1999's "Nothing Gold Can Stay" up to and including their 2004 effort.
Opening with "Truth of My Youth", they waste no time in cranking up the energy levels. This track is fast and catchy, with Jordan Pundik delevering his nasally vocals down to a tee. Hardly catching for breath they move onto another energy filled track, "Understatment" from 2002's "Sticks And Stones". Guitarist Chad Gilbert provides gusty backing vocals throughout and is keen to get the faithful NFG followers involved as much as possible.
"2s & 3s" is next and this sounds arguabley even better live than on record. The crowd goes wild to "Hit Or Miss", the single that propelled the band into the limelight back in 1999, and you can almost sense the hysteria through your speakers as it's performed.
The set continues at a high pace, with other fan favourites coming and going with a flash such as "This Disaster", "Better Off Dead", and "Head On Collision".
Next is where the only blip of the night arrives, and with no fault placed at the band themselves. Towards the end of "Dressed To Kill", the Forum's power cuts out. During this time they perform acoustic versions of "I Don't Wanna Know" and "My Friends Over You". When the power is finally restored, the quintet waste no time in putting in full band versions of the two tracks to get the crowd rowdy and rocking out once more.
The encore see's the band appear to take a final bow with stellar performances of "The Story So Far", "Sucker" and finally "Intro/All Downhill From Here". After thanking thier devoted fans for one final time they depart the stage to huge cheers.
For any NFG fan, this is highly recommended. The band proves they can put on a great live show with non-stop fun from start to finish. 4/5
