Moor Mother is back after fairly solid 2019 record ?Analog Fluids of Sonic Black Holes?, however, he is drastically changing direction since he is bringing on noise rock guru, Mental Jewelry. On this very short, 25 minutes, record Moor Mother and Mental Jewelry take you through an extremely noisy, yet powerful noise rock and no wave record. Right from the opening track you are shown what you are in for. The bouncing kick drum, quick guitar chords, poetic/political lyrics, and wailing guitar no-wave style chords. Throughout the record these two will give you a great showing of what classic 80?s and 90?s no wave and noise rock sounds like, but also incorporating new and exciting sounds by making everything not feel overwhelming. Past releases in this genre, everything clashes with everything and can be a hard sound to get through. However, on this, the vocals are perfectly recorded to sit on top of the instrumentals rather than be with the instrumentals. Also, the instrumentals are too loud or washed out where everything sounds like a mess. Everything was perfectly recorded and executed. My tiny gripe is I wish they fully thought through some of the tracks because one or two of them don?t build into the exciting sound that the rest of the album has. Otherwise, this is a nearly flawless album.
