Highly enjoyable combo of mathcore and black metal. Chaotic in a good way and first
release I really enjoyed in the dissonant black metal subgenre.

2 first tracks induced me pure chaos, but then I got all the hard(math)core and bdm influences
that makes this awesome noisy yet kind of dynamic sound. After I checked their 2 LP's I needed to
lower the rate here.

5th January 2021: Serpent Column - Endless Detainment (blackened mathcore, 2020)rI suppose this is my genre bias showing.rI really enjoyed Serpent Column on 2019?s Mirror in Darkness. I thought they had a brilliant atmosphere and used their influences from punk and hardcore to create an Ulcerate-esque kind of infernal chaos. This short release sees them flipping the script and essentially playing mathcore with black metal influences more than vice versa. And? I?m not into it. I?m just not into mathcore at all, and it seems that can?t even be remedied when an artist I enjoy does it. Too screamy, too meandering, not enough emotion and not enough melody.
