You may assume that the 10th anniversary version of Viva Emptiness is a straight reissue with some bonus tracks, but this is in fact not the case. The album was fully remixed and remastered due to the band's dissatisfaction with the sound of the original, including some brand new keyboard tracks in certain songs and brand new vocals in "Inside the City of Glass". The inclusion of the fantastic outtake track "Wait Outside" is also significant, especially since it's actually built into the structure of the album rather than just being tacked onto the end. Whether this is the definitive version of Viva Emptiness is really up to personal preference, but in my view, this version is a fuller and more complete experience than the original, and stands up as one of their very best releases.

The definitive version of this album for sure. Exponentially better than the flat and overly compressed original version, with the new keyboards and new vocals (on the final track) breathing new life into what I used to consider a bottom-tier Katatonia album. Excellent through and through.

Leaps and bounds better than the original version. It's not just remastered, it's completely revamped - and it breathes new life into a great album that was previously hindered by lifeless production. They even restored the vocals to "Inside the City of Glass" that were always intended to be there. If you think St. Anger is the best-produced album of all time, stick to the original; for everyone else, however, this is quite literally how Viva Emptiness was always meant to sound.

Completely unnecesary remix, the original was perfect. If you call yourself a fan with decent
taste, avoid this one like a plague and enjoy the original version of what it is the last awesome
Katatonia album.

And who the fuck was the retard who had the "brilliant" idea of adding vocals to the last track?
