You can tell they were definitely beginning to find their true sound, but Invisible Lantern is still bogged down by a few flaws. The most glaring one would have to be the sameness within all these tracks, they all just do the same thing for the most part. Some of them also feel underdeveloped or undercooked, which would later be improved on with subsequent albums. The other big flaw is the production, which is basically a mess. The drums are pushed all the way in the back, Mark's voice blends with the rest of the band instead of popping out, and the guitar sound itself is just muddy. Still though, this is a satisfying album from The Screaming Trees, but one that definitely has its fair share of flaws. For completists only.
