After hitting No. 1 with the good but messy "Auf dem Kreuzzug ins Glück", Die Toten Hosen returned with a much darker and sarcastic record, that is mostly designed as a commentary on the zeitgeist of Germany in the 90's. Topics vary from consumerism, to protest songs against the nazi riots of these days, drugs, STDs, Alienation, to love . There are some vague experiments here and there, but besides the sometimes hard hitting cynicism, this is a quintessential Hosen Album, still rooted in Punkrock, performed by a matured band, and the lack of usual missteps makes it one of their best, Right behind "Opium" and "Horrorschau".
