The band known as Ject:

They're not oppressed. They're not tormented or deprived. They're just four guys out of the South Florida suburbs trying to rock your socks off. So if you're aiming to sink your teeth into some straight-up funk with some rockin' melodies, then by all means, return your seat to its upright position and prepare to crank the volume on your speakers. But don't forget your seat-belt...it's a bumpy ride.

IMO, Ject = Red Hot Chili Peppers mixed with Cake.

All order originates from chaos. In this case, Ject was the product of a handful of disgruntled musicians, tired of the crap they feed you through the radio, just trying to make good music for people to enjoy. Singer, Ethan Eden, and drummer, Daniel Obregon, were school-mates for six months and didn't even know it. However, when Ethan's previous band had dismantled over time, he decided to stray from mainstream punk rock and began writing more unique, more musical songs. Daniel Obregon was a garage-rocker since he moved from Colombia in 2001, practicing drums up to 5 hours a day, every day of the week. It was no coincidence that Ethan, longing to start a new band, and Daniel, longing for real drumming experience, began jamming and writing together.

Ryan Dorries and Jesse Iden were buddies for 5 years, as well as band-mates in their middle-school Jazz Band. While they had formed, joined, and left bands together, the two musicians had never been able to write the music that they enjoyed. The prospect of finding a drummer and singer had always been difficult for them, there had always seemed to be a couple pieces missing to the puzzle...

What happened next was just simple arithmatic...

Under the renowned producer James Paul Wisner (Dashboard Confessional, underOATH, Further Seems Forever, etc.), Ject created a masterful three-song sampler in late September. Containing fan favorites "Change," "Get Used To The Wave," and "Girls Are A Waste of Gasoline," Ject's proclaimed "Fall Sampler" can be purchased for $5 at any Ject performance.

Ject rocks, so you don't have to.

Ject - Sampler 2004

The first track on this short little sampler is called Change and it's freakin awesome. It starts off with some highhat hits, then jumps into a gigantic adrenaline rush of crazy guitar while the distorted vocals are sprayed at you. The energy this band gives is incredible! The verses sound pretty angry but the chorus is a little pop/punky. The vocals are extremely good. Sang very well along with the great lyrics. Then the bridge comes in and it's a little minor guitar solo and then the song fades away as quickly it began. Get Used To The Wave starts up and it's a really cool and funky romp. It has well placed vocals and lyrics, but after the 1st verse, the chorus is absent. Then after the 2nd it shows up and is a wavy and funky beat with amazing bass and guitar. The song ia five minutes long and even though the chorus is repeated a couple of times, it still never gets old. By the way, at shows, this is the big song that they play. It's the one that has the whole crowd dancing. I vaguely remember being at one of their shows and being pulled up to the stage with a few others to start dancing. Anyway, this song is just a lot of fun fr anyone. The third and final track Girls Are A Waste Of Gasoline starts up with a really cool guitar intro. It's straight beautiful. This song is probably the funkiest of the three. They have more songs but these were the three chosen. Back to the song, it's also five minutes and the vocals are really catchy here. The high pitched vocals in every pre-chorus. This is probably the best song IMO, on the sampler. It just shows the bands best potential. When the bridge comes in, you know it too. Anyway, go check them out VIA Myspace or Purevolume. You know you want to.

Totally ripped off what I said at the Cancer Benefit. RHCP mixed with Cake. Haha, good review though. I know all four. Ryan has the same bass teacher as me and Danny, Jesse, and Ethan were my counselors.
