A power metal adaptation/concept album of the 1985 family movie The Goonies, is somewhat of wet dream for anyone who had the privilege of watching the film in their youth. And yet, They Never Say Die still fails to deliver, as a result of its trite songwriting which lacks enough hooks and memorable moments. Essentially, the music contained in the LP is based on a european power metal platform (think of Avantasia), which means that it's energetic and bombastic. In addition, the utilization of different vocalists doesn't impact the consistency negatively and there are a few fun moments here and there with nice uplifting melodies. However, as a whole, They Never Say Die could and should have been much better.
