1.5 very poor | Kris/KJ | May 16th 19 | Ruined every song on here. Yngwie loves slinging mud at former singers to the likes of Jeff Scott Soto and Ripper Owens....but what Yngwie fails to realize the quality of the music greatly diminished when he took over vocals. Also, Yngwie doesn't even attempt to portray himself as a true artist and creative mind anymore. The mindless, droning shredding is devoid of any careful thought. Truth be told I was only able to listen through about half the record - but I'm sure I didnt miss out on anything in the other half. What a shame; I still respect and enjoy Yngwie's early material.

2.5 average | manosg EMERITUS | March 29th 19 | Blue Lightning, probably, sounds like you expect it to sound. When the album was announced, I was surprised to read that it was going to be a blues LP. In reality though, it is Malmsteen's interpretation of the blues, meaning that he fuses those rock staples with his blistering fast playing and fireworks. The outcome is an overall enjoyable listen with zero replay value which has its fair share of good moments but also features an overblown approach which, eventually, doesn't benefit the originals.

2.5 average | Snowdog808 | September 27th 20 | Aside from agreeing with the general sentiment of Mister manosg, I find Mister Malmsteen's style to mesh better with some of these tracks than others, but the end product would have at least slightly been greater with one of his prior vocal powerhouses like Mark Boals or the Ripper. Malmsteen's vocals sound like a Dollar Store David Lee Roth with less power and nasality that is the envy of the nematodes.
