On Rebirth, long time studio drummer Jon Hill teams up with producer Spencer Bradham and Tides of Man guitarist Spencer Gill to bring a truly phenomenal album born out of loss and addiction. The album lyrically was inspired by Jon?s struggles with heroin addiction and his recent divorce. To display Hill?s heartbreak and sorrow, the trio brings in a variety of high profile vocalists to give Hill?s pain a voice. Notable moments on the album include the opener, featuring Aaron Marsh from Copeland, who beautifully croons over the airy indie rock instrumentation. While the album is mostly low key and keeps to an indie rock/indie folk sound, there are moments of aggression on the record. A notable one is the track, Hang ?Em High which feature Nate Barcalow, formerly of Finch. The track has an unnerving groove running throughout it that culminates in Nate creaming like a mad man, calling back to Say Hello to Sunshine era Finch. Overall, the album is an atmospheric and beautifully crafted indie record that eloquently conveys the struggles and pain of a man lost and hoping to find the light at the end of the tunnel.
