| 4.5 superb | Bedex | February 12th 25 | Maybe my view of late XIXth century music is a bit off, but this seems so modern and colourful, almost unhinged for its time. It packs an incredible amount in just under 10 minutes, with lots of instruments (featuring heavily in the almost grotesquely grandiose finaly), but most prominently extremely virtuoso piano. It's a touch much at times, but boy is it fun. Saint-Saens delivers, I'm not sure why this is rated so low. This was apparently a piece he considered his flagship work. Heard the Bergen Philarmonic version with Neeme Jarvi today. 4.3
