Those who enjoy atmospheric music should definitely pick this album up. Vestigial is a fairly unknown dark ambient band. Dark ambient is also a vastly unfamiliar genre, which is very minimalistic. The band takes everything that the ambient world has to offer and employs these elements to create a dark atmosphere. Not just a dark atmosphere but a feeling that all of humanity is extinct, gone maybe even annihilated.
This shadowy environment is created with rumblings and hums such as in the song "Primordial Communications". Its clickety clack treble tones and base pulses give you the experience of a post apocalyptic world. Even though this song is gloomy and ominous it still has a nice unique beat to it. A kind of beat that you would imagine when lost soul is walking them empty streets of a movie, unaware of what has happened to his fellow man.
What's nice about Vestigial and his album is that he doesnt rely on droning as do many dark ambient projects. Its completely electronics and drums. No guitar needed to create this epic nothingness. This album, that will most definitely give you a more nihilistic view of life, has developed a cult following in Italy. Italy has given the world all sorts of magnificent artwork, and "Translucent Communion" is no failure!
