Fred Durst has finally emerged from the depths of the nu metal bog with some of the most
experimental and, may I say, DARING ideas the overarching rock community has seen in decades.
When Wes breaks the guitar line on 'Ready to Go' to allow Lil Wayne to spit hard bars about the
"g" in lasagna being silent like the carbon monoxide that killed his mother over Sam's most
complex, fretless bass line to date, the song sounds like the crescendo to a thousand symphonies.
When John spontaneously breaks into a gravity blast-led bongo solo during the latter half of
Endless Slaughter, and then the children's choir congratulates him for his truly immense skill
set, I felt my heart warm like I'd just swallowed charcoal.
'Stampede of the Disco Elephants' isn't just a moving piece of music. It's a moving piece of art.
