I find that while Preoccupations made an admirable, albeit straightforward and true-to-the-source, cover of "Pontiac 87", it was really Protomartyr that has elevated the cover of "Forbidden" to something grander and cooler. What once was a short detour with little rhyme or reason from Preoccupations has now become a full-on goth-punk rager. (also, yes, i know that Preoccupations play the song like that live, but it certainly was not this expansive on the record proper)
