Review Summary: A peaceful look into a chaotic mind

Gustavo Bertoni is the lead singer and vocalist of the brazilian band Scalene. Here, on his second solo project (following 2015's "The Pilgrim") Gustavo gives us a very personal record that, in his own words, had to be written. The album flows perfectly. The 10 songs in here are some realy inspiring music, because of how vulnerable the songwriting is on this LP. Songs like "Vain", that go into a darker side of the singer's mind, or "Unsheltered" that expresses a depressing yet hopeful view about his life. Musically this album is truly superb. The string arrangements, the percussion, the rock elements, everything just falls into place perfectly. Every song here just feels like an unique experience, mainly due to how he manages to write from a different perspective on each and every song, with different musical influences (such as The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, among many others) and a really good production by Samyr Aissami. The indie rock/folk sound this album brings is not unheard of, but the way it is portrayed is truly outstanding. His vocal delivery doesn't fall flat at any given moment on this album, I personally really like Gustavo's voice in everything he's worked with, so my opinion regarding this might be a little biased. This album's a 38 minute insight on an artist's mind, I would highly recommend it to anyone. My personal favorite tracks are "Vain", "Be Here Now" and "Apathy Dance".
