3.5 great | Jade | August 19th 18 | some pretty standard glitch FX all over the record, but it's really nice to hear Trevor going for broke in pretty much every way. crazy song structures, uncompromising dynamics shifts and accomplished sound design mark an impressive evolution from his last youth lagoon album. while fans of hibernation and bughouse can't be blamed for ditching the ship, Mulberry Violence establishes a strong, complex identity quickly and develops it well over its brief runtime. Nice.

4.0 excellent | chaseguitar | August 23rd 18 | Album is actually incredible and he's done well to create a new aesthetic under his name that's different from the Youth Lagoon sound. Playwright has some YL-like melodies, though. Every song does something different, whether it be the backing production or some weird raspy vocal effects (looking at you, Film it All), yet the album is quite cohesive. If you liked 22 A Million with its glitchy production and processed vocals, definitely give this a try. Standout tracks: XTQ Idol, Dicegame, Clad in Skin, Ache
