Eight years after his untimely death in late 1996, Yaki Kadafi's debut had finally come out. "Debut" would be an interesting term for this however. Nearly all of the songs here have demo quality audio and many are just Outlawz songs re-branded as Kadafi featuring others. The obvious highlight to this album is "Freestyle Pt. 1" with its eerie keyboards, loud percussion, and Kadafi's always vicious, precise rapping. Unfortunately, Kadafi never had the best flow or had the most attention-grabbing voice so with few instrumentals being strong enough to hold him, Son Rize Vol. 1 falls so short of what it possibly could've been given he was able to actually create album material.
