Esoteric vs. Japan proves to be the group's weirdest, most consistent release so far. Producer 7L provides some of the most original, obscure beats and samples in hip-hop, this time strongly influenced by Japanese culture. MC Esoteric is known as one of the main members of the super-group Army of the Pharaohs, and it is well represented on this release as his lyrics are congruent with the group's fighting theme. Of course, his signature wacky side is still evident throughout the album. Although a very lengthy release, Esoteric vs. Japan stays consistent as each track provides something new and refreshing from the last, without sacrificing quality on production or lyrics.
