| 3.0 good | Jared Floryan | December 9th 15 | The Years, which is the debut studio album by Detroit-based metalcore band Red I Flight, is extremely commonplace for the subgenre; especially the mainstream sort. It's aggressive and simultaneously melodic, and the record is fairly easy to get into. Though calling the album far from original is, like, the understatement of the century, The Years proves to be a solid metalcore offering at times. With tight instrumental chops and frontman Josh Robinson's war-ready vocal performance, Red I Flight's first (and so far only) official full-length is a nice listen so long as one leaves skepticism and close-mindedness at the door.

| 3.5 great | Hastetheday09 | February 26th 09 | This album is pretty good for i believe their debut. The drums are pounding endlessly and it's awesome. The guitars are pretty sweet, with a ton of heavy riffing, and melody here and there. The bass (i believe it says 5-string in my book) is actually good for hardcore/metalcore. It's audible more often than other bands, and it adds to the heaviness of this album. The vocals, took a few listens to get used to, but he has a pretty sweet scream. He has the high shrieks, and the guttural lows, i love a lot. The best part though, is the cleaner screams, it's really easy to understand and he can do it quite fast. He doesn't do clean singing, but he has some spoken parts which actually helps this album. Overall, pretty good start.
