3.5 great | Alabaster Jones | June 26th 17 | There's an air of childlike innocence that permeates Water From Your Eyes' debut full-length, and it can easily be heard in the smile-inducing synth or vocal melodies as well as vocalist Rachel Brown's quite adorable singing voice. Nate Amos handles basically everything else from the instruments to the production to the songwriting itself, and he does a really solid job with everything. The production is slightly lo-fi, furthering the sort of youthful and free feeling the record has, and each song has one or two recurring melodies that are either really catchy, really cute, or both. It's atmosphere isn't particularly impressive outside of that, however, and the similar songwriting does hurt things when the quality of the songs can't remain static. Still, it's a fun and occasionally beautiful debut full-length, and you can't really ask for much more from a band just formed last year.
