Insane Clown Posse's Violent J released his first solo EP in 2003. It's a concept album that expands upon the track of the same name from ICP's debut album, Carnival of Carnage. Basically, Violent J is transported to Oz. Twiztid's Monoxide and Jamie Madrox take on the roles of Scarecrow and Tin Man, who want, respectably, some homies to smoke with and a gat, while the Lion--Blaze Ya Dead Homie--wants some hos. You'll probably hate this one if you dislike the group. There's a special edition with a collectible tin and a package of cigarette papers.
Highlights: "Homies 2 Smoke With", "Shiny Diamonds", "My Shine".

I blame Bulldog for me ever hearing this. The concept, is over-filled with buckets and buckets of CHEESE, it's basically the stoner's wizard of OZ. The beats switch from terribly low-fi poopty rock rap, mellow keyboard tracks (the best), and WTF accoustic rap. The production is hay-wire, the concept sucks, and it's ICP, where's the good stuff? well, the lyrics for like a couple of times are vulgar enough, and mixed with the concept, are actually kind of FUNNY, and it kind of works together as a whole. Other than that though, sheesh this is BAD.

Violent J made horror core what it is today, this album is a fantasy, trippy yet horrific album, great for anyone who appreciates creativity.

Lets get everything clear: I HATE the rap genre, as a general statement. More so, i hate today's rap. It seems all the rap i ever hear nowadays contains nothing worth listening to. That being said, Violent J and ICP are fucking good. Chillin in my friend's car one day, smoking bowls, his Dying Fetus CD ends, so he decides to mix things up alittle, and puts in his copy of Wizard of the Hood by Violent J. Long story short, i was absolutely blown away. When the rhymes are as clever and interesting as this, you cant help to enjoy everything about it (Lil' Wayne, take notice).

While I'm not an extreme Juggalo that will issue you a death threat if you rate an ICP album less than a 4, I'm not one of the assholes that will rage rate their entire discography. Despite what their fans think, ICP members aren't psycho-murderer clowns, and despite what their haters think, ICP members aren't terrible, God-awful musicians either. They're more of a really weird, comedic half-metal/half-rap band. On Wizard Of The Hood, rap is the pre-dominant instrumental element, with occassional metal thrown in there. The stoner's version of The Wizard of Oz is chockful of 'WTF?' hysterical lyrics and well-timed curses but Violent J's voice, mediocre rapping(?) and the dislikability of the rap-metal hybrid instrumentals limit this hilarious album to a mere 2.7/5.
