There's really not a whole lot to Succumb. It's got some really great production that makes everything sound like you're spelunking in a haunted cavern, and the vocals add some personality when they're there, but when it comes down to the compositions themselves, there isn't a whole lot that separates these guys from plenty of other blackened death metal groups out there today. There's some great moments here and there, like lead single "Survival", which is definitely the most dense song on the record, and the unexpected pianos that lead off closer "The Flood", but aside from these sparse moments, it's really nothing noteworthy. It's a shame, given that sonically the group sounds excellent, because if they had some better songwriting, they could've made something as chilling as that album cover.
