5.0 classic | Risodo | February 5th 18 | So abysmal, so impressive, so amazing. "Freeform Jazz" is one of the most complete jazz works I've heard in recent years. I'm a suspect to talk, since I'm a big fan of the style. But damn, how amazing and astral that this album is for me is even hard to put into words.

4.0 excellent | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | June 15th 20 | A burning question arises here: is this more jazz or more hip-hop? The artist is more hip-hop, the album is (occasionally-)free jazz played as hip-hop. A wild delight it is.

5.0 classic | Nine | September 15th 19 | Going to be perfectly honest, I absolutely love the inclusion of "Fools No Rules". It's not the usual throwaway interlude, rather it uses off-tune and sporadic jazzy elements that breathe new life into the
record. This entire record is intrinsic.

3.5 great | loves uplifting twinkly bs | January 8th 17 | Uyama finally himself while still continuing the legacy of his late friend Mr Seba, but at the cost of slight monotony. A small price to pay if it means a step in the right direction.

3.5 great | Alabaster Jones | December 25th 16 | Now you must acquire a taste for FREEFORM JAZZ (Spoiler Warning: not actually freeform jazz). For those of us who have acquired a taste for jazzy instrumental hip-hop a la Nujabes (who was a close associate of Hiroto's for years till his untimely death), Freeform Jazz is just what the doctor ordered. He's known as one to mix heavy downtempo and ambient jazz into his hip-hop compositions, and that certainly does happen here, but there's a nice twist. The jazz instrumentation this time around is more prominent, lively, and organic, as trumpets flail wildly and saxophones hum underneath. It's a nice contrast from the typically laid-back and calming style Hiroto employs when it happens, at it provides a nice sort of wake-up call in this regard. Other than that though, it's somewhat standard fare, although that's not a bad thing in the slightest. It's certainly not very original, but it is pretty beautiful and well done nonetheless, as one would come to expect from the man.
