Review Summary: A short, but very enjoyable listen.

September 24th, 2007 the Cuntry Boner Single went on pre-order on the Puscifer website to be released the first week of October. On this one Maynard enlist the help of Evil Joe Barresi and British alternative rock producer Alan Moulder. The single contains just two songs and gives fans a taste of things to come on the full length album. The tracks are a redone version of Cuntry Boner followed by the hidden track World up My Ass.

The album starts out with the title track and everyone’s favorite new country song Cuntry Boner. Mixed by Evil Joe Barresi; this version of the song is slightly longer than the version you might have heard on YouTube clocking in at 3:57. In addition to being a little longer Maynard not only performs his usual piece of the song, but as well as the parts performed by the female vocalist seen in the video and in my opinion sounds much better this way. The lyrics to this song are devious in a way that only Maynard can get away with.

Next up is the hidden surprise track World up My Ass. This is a much more mellow song than the previous one, and is mixed by Alan Moulder, but the lyrics are just as amusing. This song makes me feel as though I am sitting in a saloon back in the old western days. It’s almost dusks and I’m tired from a long day of robbing banks and eluding the long arm of the law. I glance over at my horse, who is tied to a post out front, through a near by window as I sip from my cold cerveza while listening to a man with a large gallon hat and a mustache named Maynard singing away about his woes.

Maynard never ceases to surprise me. I had no idea he could sing this style of music and sing it well. Even though I despise country music I would love it if Maynard did more songs like this or even put out a full album just for laughs. Although there are only two songs it was a short, but fun listen. I think fans of Maynard in general would enjoy this and it is essential for any collection to be truly complete. You can find this in the “Eyes & Ears” section of the Puscifer website or just use the link here in the review. https://store.puscifer.com/frameset.html
