Released in 2000, Crimson is an accessible, moody and sorrowful record. Full of catchy choruses and brooding lyricism that leans heavily on the morose themes of death and depression, musically Lopakka's doom-laden riffs are blended perfectly with Laihiala's distinctively sorrowful vocals to provide a heavy metal backbone that keeps everything tight. Crimson does not have the heavier, death metal character of earlier releases but its a very cohesive and emotionally resonant record with lots of great moments.
