3.5 great | azfrankie | November 23rd 07 | Little River Band's first album release in twelve years is an impressive collection of fresh original songs, performed by a regrouped contemporary rock band. The controversial part here was whether this is truly still LRB (without any founding member being part of the formation). With Wayne Nelson doing most of the lead vocals, and Stephen Housden's extraordinary guitar playing, plus the typical stylistic attributes Where We Started From was instantly and wholeheartedly welcomed by most fans. Other than nine new originals the band recorded remakes of "The Night Owls" and "Cool Change" (which they had better left untouched, in my opinion). These 'cover versions' aren't appropriately honoring the memory of this great Australian outlet. The more you listen to this album, the more you enjoy its sophisticated arrangements. Wayne contributes his wonderful and heartbreaking "Who Made the Moon", a memorial as well as his musical contribution to his pet project, the Angel House Shelter Foundation.
