Shove The Sun Aside is seven string guru Dave Weiner's first solo album. It was initially released by Dave Weiner himself, but after a few months it was re-released on Steve Vai's Favoured Nations.
Supported by artists such as Graeme Rapparport, Virgil Donati, Philip Bynoe and Steve Wildson, Dave manages to deliver a stunning good album. It features beautiful melodic lines, as well as some great ripping heavy
rhythms. The overall feeling of the album is very smooth, and it's
definately something you should get if you're into Instrumental Guitar.

Andonova - 3.5/5
The opening track starts with some nice warm pads, followed by a soothing
guitar with a nice delay. It builds up nicely, and leads up perfectly to
the rest of the album.
Long Run - 5/5
This track has quite some energy! It has some very catchy riffs, and the
way the bass and the guitar work together is quite interesting. This song
contains one of the best licks I've heard in a while.
Monument Shine - 4.5/5
Dave really shows his prowess at songwriting in this track. The way
everything flows together really sets an interesting mood. Halfway the song this 'mood' temporarily changes into a darker one, but it changes back to the first, making it come out even better! This is some real fretboard
mastering.
The Ghost Of Denmark St. - 4.5/5
A very peaceful and relaxing track. Part the rhythm is played on an
acoustic as Dave sets the mouth with a beautiful clean sound. well, except
for the chorus, where he lets his seven string bash a heavy yet still
gentle riff.
Tourmaline - 5/5
In this track we can clearly hear that Dave hasn't just mastered the
electric guitar, but also the acoustic. The things he lays down in this
track are simply amazing.
Shove The Sun Aside - 4.5/5
This is the longest track on the album, which lasts a little over seven
minutes. The sounds he produces on this track are very outlandish, and
really keep the listener in awe and anticipation of what's happening next.
There is also some very nice shredding in here, but nothing too excessive.
Bonus: Dave's Party Piece - 4/5
This track made it's debut on Steve Vai's Live at The Astoria dvd. This is a happy little piece of music. It's a nice addition to the album, even though it is on a different level than the other tracks.
