Review Summary: In a way all of Trapdoor Socials songs in their album 'Death of a Friend' are good. The album is 23 minutes of deep feels. I recommend 'Death of a Friend' 'Inertia' and 'Like You Never' for those who are looking for new songs

Trapdoor Social is an alternative rock band that released their first album in 2012. Needless to say this album is quite a decent album, if you are into more of an alternative style over Rock, Metal, Pop etc. This is my first review on an album, but feel free to judge as you see fit.

I was actually in year 8 when I first saw their music video for 'Death of a friend' a very touching/emo kind of song in my opinion. I would lose myself a lot in this album with my stupid as 11 year old emo feelings.

Anyway the first track on the EP is 'Away' The song was very catchy but annoying in some cases, this is probably the worst song in the album. The idea of having cheery love lyrics such as 'Leave it all behind and run away with me' is very 'cringey' and annoying to me. but it is still a good track. the album uses more lyrics like this to express the singers happy/depressed feelings. lyrics like 'no one could deserve this, hanging from a rope that never ends' and 'You make every part of me stand up and fight, to save the world'

'Death of a Friend' which is also the name of the album. I don't exactly like albums that use the album name as one of songs. 'Death of a Friend' starts out with emotional lyrics such as 'You thought you found the holy one, They take a little and she takes none' but the good part is when it hits the chorus where the drums kick in more, in my honest opinion lyrics mean nothing to me. I couldn't really care less. The best part is when the solo kicks in at 2:57 quick, repeatative but it leaves behind a feeling of wanting to hear it again and again.

The next track afterwards is 'Inertia' Once again the song is also soft and you can feel the singers emotions in it too. In my personal opinion this is my favourite song on the album, when it hits the easy guitar solo at 2:25 with the lyrics 'No one could deserve this'.

Needless to say Trapdoor Socials album 'Death of a Friend' was pretty decent for an alternative rock band. In a way all of the songs in the album were good. I recommend 'Death of a Friend' 'Inertia' and 'Like You Never' to those of you who like to skip the details and look for the song recommendations. I rate this 3.5
