The Company project is a longtime experiment of guitarist Derek Bailey. Bailey invites a variety of musicians to participate, locks them and himself in a house for a week, and records the free improv which arises. This lineup, Company 91, features John Zorn, Vanessa Mackness, Pat Thomas, and Buckethead, among others. Sadly, the material is mostly throwaway. The songs begin as near-nothings and devolve into random, atonal wankery before ending, and that's it. Considering the level of talent, this is disappointing. The first of three volumes, which all feature the same musicians.
